Plitvice Food

Being quite remote a place, there weren't masses of food options around the park. As I mentioned I stayed at Hotel Jezero with breakfast included. Wow, was it a massive breakfast selection. Very nice !! I didn't go hungry that's for sure.

6:57am people are keen to get into breakfast (so was I, to get my day on the move) that opens at 7am

These Croatian sausages are the best thing ever !! Delicious !!

For lunches I just had rolls with various odds and ends as fillings, nothing too exciting to see compared to the other cities.

For dinner there was limited options, well ... limited cost effective options I should say. You could eat at the hotel restaurant and there was a buffet but was €28 so that was a bit pricey no matter what it had. There were 2 other close by restaurants (one was not open the 2 nights I was there anyway) but looking at their menus they weren't cheap. They were Black River Steak & Pasta House and Lička Kuća

In my research I found there was a restaurant just outside the park called Bistro Vučnica (still technically a park restartant, I think the park owns it). It looked a few km walk but I found that the reception had a shuttle that would take you there and when you were done the restaurant would call and they would collect you. Perfect !!

As I was staying in the park hotel I got a 20% voucher for the 1st meal at Bistro Vučnica, so that was cool !! I ordered the best pizza I could get, that I liked, knowing I'd get it for less. I headed there at 6:30pm.

Got myself a nice local beer and then perused the menu.

I decided to have the Lička Pizza which had on it Škripavac cheese, gouda. capocollo, prosciutto, bacon, onions, green pepper, basa cream cheese, sour cream, pepperoni. It had a big chilli in the middle which I cut up to spread out. It was very very tasty.

For the second night dinner I just had some left over small Croatian sausages (bad Mike, I had taken a few from the breakfast) with cheese and other odds and ends. Was very filling and was satisfied.

The 3rd and final night I went back to Bistro Vučnica, decided to have a different pizza that night, oh and beer of course. I had the Salami pizza the second night.

I laughed at how this guy at the next door table was eating his pizza. He would be lynched if he was in Italy. Note he's using a knife and fork and how he is cutting out the inside of the pizza. WTF ?!?!?!
